Conewango Swamp
Field Trips

The Conewango Swamp Wildlife Management Area is a 900-acre reserve comprising open fields and wetland areas with high quality floodplain forest of silver maple - ash along Conewango Creek in nearby Cattaraugus County.  Flood plain forests serve as an important wildlife corridor between habitats and reduce flooding and excessive siltation downstream. It is a site of recent Osprey nesting. We anticipate grassland sparrows, Great Blue Heron, Green Heron, most of the swallow species, Yellow Warblers, Common Yellowthroats, woodpeckers, chickadees, cardinals, mourning doves, wood ducks, mallards, snipe and other typical birds of this environment.

This area is located in Cattaraugus County, New York in the Town of Conewango approximately 1 mile north of the Village of Randolph and borders Swamp Road and NYS Route 241. Randolph is exit 16 off I-86.
